Raspberries... ... are usually ready to harvest at the end of May and throughout the summer. Raspberries should be plump and uniformly colored. They ripen quickly and do not continue to ripen once picked. Raspberries are thin skinned and, very fragile, and require immediate refrigeration. Raspberries also have a very short shelf life. Keep them refrigerated and dry until ready to use!
Raspberries are all pre-picked for you.
Blueberries... ...are usually ready to harvest at the end of June through August. You will find blueberries in different stages of development on the plant. For maximum flavor and sweetness, pick berries that are plump and uniformly blue. A blueberry will "roll off" the stem easily when picked. Blueberries that have red or green on them are immature and should be left to fully ripen. Blueberries that are fully ripened are higher in antioxidants. They will not ripen once they are picked. Do not overfill containers, as they are fragile. Blueberries should be refridgerated as soon as possible after picking. Berries can be stored for a week or more; do not wash until ready to use.
Blueberries are U-Pick or Pre-picked.
Blackberries... ...are usually ready to harvest in mid-June through August. Blackberries are ripe when they are slightly soft, dull black in color, and very full. They will not ripen after picking. Berries that are red or shiny purple are not ripe and should be left on the plant to fully ripen. A ripe blackberry will detach easily from the stem. Berries may be hidden in the leaves so gently part the leaves to find them. Berries are fragile, so do not overfill containers. Do not wash blackberries until ready to use. Refrigerate as soon as possible to prevent loss of quality.
